Luke Bellinger is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at Stanford. He is broadly interested in state elections, party politics and primaries, public opinion, and social groups. His current work examines geographic election outcomes as well as public opinion viewpoints in relation to religion. His methodological influences include spatial and temporal statistics, large scale survey research, and big data; he is also trained in qualitative methods, especially participant observation. His early research has been recognized by regional professional associations. Prior to arriving at Stanford, he earned his undergraduate degree in Government and Humanities Honors at UT-Austin, where he also researched crime trends for the LBJ School and assisted teaching in the Department of Statistics.
